It is told that the science of geography was revived back to the 15th, 16th & 17th centuries when the work of Ptolemy in the past was discovered. Explorers using Portuguese and Spanish expeditions also supported this. The first scientifically based treatises on geography were produced during this period the European scholars.

But what is the real news? Islamic geographers formed countless books on Africa, Asia, India, China and the Indians during the 8th to 15th centuries. The pen-strokes include the first global encyclopedia of geography, datings > roadmaps. The great works of the 14th century by Ibn Battutah provide a detailed view of the global geography of the past. 

Muslim geographers based on the 10th to 15th centuries already surpassed the results based on europeans on the geography of these regions well as it entered the 18th century.
